New Zealand: 76.5% of Covid-19 cases have recovered, 3.7 deaths per million, 1st major cluster officially closed

Those arguing New Zealands population gives them an advantage, you're right it probably does but the key takeaway is that all countries taking strong, clearly communicated, decisive action are doing better. While other counties took weeks to take any action NZ quickly closed the border to a country where 15% of economy runs on tourism, that was a ballsy move when at the time no other countries in the region had done that. Any businesses affected also had 3months of wage subsidies in their accounts within 2-4 days which essentially ensured the majority of the population could afford to follow the lockdown.

Introducing the alert levels system was also a master stroke of communication, it ensured that every citizen had a clear understanding of what is required and also made it clear how they'd slowly get out of lockdown https://covid19.govt.nz/alert-system/covid-19-alert-system/

The global media has a crush on New Zealand but South Korea and Vietnam also both took early strong action and are doing better than New Zealand with multiple times the population.
